Bright Street Cooperative, Burlington, Vermont

This 40-unit housing cooperative is woven into an existing block on 1.2 acres in Burlington’s Old North End providing a mix of building types and scales, reinforcing the existing neighborhood streetscape.  Car & bicycle parking is provided underground which frees up open space for community gardens and play areas. Housing cooperatives have proven over time to provide a sense of ownership to residents which in turn fosters commitment and stability to neighborhoods.
