Annisquam River House, Cape Ann, Massachusetts

Wagner Hodgson worked closely with the client and Flavin Architects to envision a modern house on a steeply sloped site overlooking the Annisquam River in Cape Ann, MA. The house was carefully sited and natural stormwater systems were integrated with the landscape design to minimize site disturbance. The home takes advantage of beautiful views of the tidal marsh and wetland from its vantage point tucked high up into the hillside. A large mature honey locust tree extends up through the second-floor deck integrating the house with its natural surroundings. The lines of the house are extended into the landscape, creating terraced outdoor rooms and lawn spaces. Ornamental grasses, board form concrete walls, natural stone terraces, and accent lighting complement the modern home.
