Cornwall Farmhouse, Cornwall, Vermont

This family home, a contemporary interpretation of the classic New England farmhouse, is located in a hay meadow in Vermont’s Champlain Valley and enjoys sweeping views of the surrounding patchwork of farmland and forested hillsides.  The designed landscape takes its cues from the surrounding agrarian landscape, as the long gravel driveway approaches the house through an apple orchard and terminates in a parking court modelled after the traditional farm ‘dooryard’.  Outdoor spaces for relaxation and entertaining, framed by dry-laid granite walls and textural bands of meadow plants, are all composed with the view in mind.
